Enjoy the Pleasing Views of Yuyuantan Park (Jade Lake Park)

Visit for exercise or leisure:

I was pleasantly surprised by my visit to Yuyuantan Park. I prefer walking and relaxing rather than running, but there were many people who were using the main path for intense workouts. This park is suitable for both purposes.

What is there to see and do at Yuyuantan Park?

Yuyuantan Park is most famous for its cherry blossoms which bloom in spring. In spring this year, I missed the event and by the time I visited the blossoms had fallen. Be on time if you want to see them!

Nevertheless, there is still a lot to do at this park even if the cherry blossoms are not in bloom. A bridge intersects the park into two parts. For those interested in running, this provides two routes around the lake. Runners can chose a shorter route by crossing the bridge, or can circle the entire lake. For those looking for a longer run, consider the Beijing Olympic Park Forest.

Walkers may prefer to take their time looking at the paths and small lakes found dotted around the lake. These smaller lakes are filled with lotus plants and flowers. If one is taking a more leisurely walk, there are seating areas to relax and look at different views. People can rest under the pergolas and gazebos.

For those visiting during the day, there are also a number of places where boats can be hired.

As the sun began to set, many people (myself included), were captivated by the beautiful view of the Central Radio and TV Tower reflected in the lake. We all tried to capture the moment on our phones.

My attempt to capture the moment:
